The jade plant is a popular and durable succulent houseplant with fleshy, sometimes referred to as the money plant, elephant bush or dollar plant. These plants are called Graptopetalum paraguayense and are often referred to as 'character' plants because they have an interesting variegated leaf pattern. The Jade Plant has long been thought of as bringing good luck to its owner (particularly anyone who owns one of these lucky plants) and it could be why many consider this succulent as lucky or just downright purposed for drumming up financial fortune.

Essential Requirements to Keep Plant Healthy

 

Sunlight         

At least 3-6 hours of preferably morning sunlight a day is ideal for plant to grow well and natural direct bright light for the rest of the day.

 

Watering      

Water it when the dirt in the topsoil (1-2 inches) feels dry to the touch. Do not overwater or let the plant sit in water. Water it thoroughly during the summer months and reduce watering during winter and rainy season.

 

Soil     

The soil should be well drained and fertile, rich in organic content for growing plant.

 

Fertilizer       

Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer, a 0-20-5 or 20-5-5 ratio at least once a month. Do not fertilize during winter as it is considered a slow season when developing and building occurs.
